About Quantrix Enterprise Qloud

Quantrix Enterprise Qloud is installed on your own servers, behind your corporate firewall, or is deployed for you as a SaaS installation.

Quantrix Enterprise Qloud includes a Qloud Administration component that includes server configuration settings, and lets you manage Qloud users, groups of users, their accounts, and models.

With Enterprise Qloud you can create corporate branding to be used on Qloud pages and in Qloud-related email messages. You can also use an API to allow logging in to the Qloud from external systems.

Enterprise Qloud allows the model owner, and users with edit and save model permission, to create "tagged" versions of models (provided multi-user edit is enabled) even if other users are in the model.  A tagged version is a version to which you give a meaningful name and optionally a descriptive comment. Model owners can see the tags in the versions list, and you can retrieve tagged versions from the models list as the model owner. From Quantrix Modeler, the Qloud Check Out dialog shows Tag comments made when it was checked in, in the Tag column.

Enterprise Qloud users can choose to publish models as template models, and share the template models with any number of users who can then create their own versions of the model from the template according to the access and permissions you give them.  Enterprise Qloud template model owners can checkout, change and then check in template models containing formula changes. They can choose to merge selected formula changes to the template model and ensure that users who have copies created from the template model automatically see the version containing the formula changes.

Enterprise Qloud users can use Automation to automate tasks on Qloud. Using Enterprise Qloud Automation, you can set up a series of automated rules made of Events (a specified time that the action runs, such as every day, every week or month, biweekly, on specific days of the week; with or without start and end dates), each of which can trigger an Action (such as running a script), so that manual intervention is not needed.

Enterprise Qloud supports auto-saving models at configurable time intervals, and supports multi-user editing (see also Editing a Qloud Model). It is recommended that if multi-user edit is enabled that auto-save also be in use.

If your Enterprise Qloud has multi-user editing turned on, multiple users can edit a model concurrently rather than being locked out while a single user makes edits.

Users who concurrently view or edit the same model can see who else is in the model, using Current Users.

Multi-user edit and Auto-save

Multi-user edit allows multiple Qloud users to edit a model concurrently. Auto-save saves changes at a pre-configured interval (the default is 10 seconds), commits your edits right away, and is the best method of ensuring that edits will not be lost due to crashes.

It is recommended that multi-user edit be used in conjunction with auto-save.

When multi-user edit and auto-save are both enabled and there are multiple users editing a model, Qloud closes the model on the server when the last user exits the model.

With multi-user edit enabled, the system ensures that the same model cannot be edited by one user on Qloud while another user tries to check it out from Quantrix Modeler (and vice-versa).

With multi-user edit enabled, model owners and users with edit and save model permissions can create a named version of a model using the Tag toolbar button. During a tag the model is locked until the tag is committed. The tag Version Name displays in the Versions pane, as well as in Modeler's Check Out pane.

If auto-save is not enabled, there is risk that if the server or a Model Server process crashes, any edits made since the last tag or the last model-close could be lost.

Note: Auto-save is enabled by default in the model server .vmoptions file (it can be disabled by removing the time value in the autoSaveTime property).

Committing Changes on Qloud

Cell edits and changes on Qloud can be committed by actions other than Auto-Save and Tags:

Tabbing away from a cell edit

Clicking Enter

Clicking away/outside the edit

Leaving the browser

Sharing on Quantrix Enterprise Qloud

  • On Quantrix Enterprise Qloud, provided the Qloud Administration setting is selected for "Enable public model sharing", you can share a model as a public model by choosing the public access option during the Qloud share process. Public models are view-only and cannot be edited

  • On Quantrix Enterprise Qloud provided Groups have been set up and users can search for any user on the site for sharing purposes, users may share using Groups

  • You can share a model privately

  • You can choose to publish a model to Qloud as a template model from Quantrix Modeler's Publish option (provided the feature is not disabled). Template models let you publish a model as a template, and then share the template model with any number of users individually or via Groups. This is achieved by the model template owner identifying Template Users, whose copies of the model can be shared with selected users. Each user with whom the template model is shared can then create their own version of that model.  See also Template Formula Changes & Merges

Fonts in PDF

If your Qloud installation uses Print To PDF, font support may be limited and some fonts may print incorrectly in matrices or canvases.  Factors that affect the font support include the operating system and the actual fonts installed on the model server.  If a requested font is not installed on the model server, Quantrix will try to find the closest matching font which may result in differences in how the text is rendered in the PDF. If using non-Latin characters, text may not be rendered at all if no installed fonts that support these characters are found on the system.

Quantrix Qloud is covered by the Quantrix EULA. As such, your use of the Qloud indemnifies Quantrix of any liabilities or loss. While security measures are in place, we cannot guarantee the confidentiality of any files you publish to the Qloud.
