Simple model but copying/pasting cells takes so long
Hi all,
I’m running a relatively simply model (only about 4mb) and when I add data, if I copy data from one cell and paste into another the model hangs for a good 30-45 seconds, just simple text etc.
Understand there are better ways to insert data that I need, but would just like to know if this is something I can speed up.

I just recently hit this problem myself, when one of my clients wanted to copy values between two matrices of two different model versions which were both open with 60 Million cells (!). This obviously took forever. I stopped after two hours …
After talking to the Quantrix team, I understood that using copy-paste between matrices does not only copy the matrix-content, but also a lot of other stuff like cell formats etc. So this IS NOT the right way to do.
We found that this is much more efficient (less than 1 minute!):
- Move the source matrix to the target model (from Modelbrowser to Modelbrowser)
- Copy the cell values using a cell formula in the target matrix.
- Deleting the formula “withoutClearing”, so the values are retained.
I think if this works easy and fast with 60 Million cells, it should work with most uses cases.

One reason could be that pasting data triggers recalculation. Try to disable Autocalculate to see if this makes a difference?
