How can I stop search from being case sensitive.

Searches never used to be case sensitive, but now they are and I can’t see an option to change. This is something of a pain.

Hi Francis,

If “Case Sensitive” is unchecked in the settings, it does not matter which case you use, because Quantrix returns all search results correctly. You can see this in the screenshot below. If you would like to resolve the issue, you may consider either uploading your model with the product codes you mentioned as an example here, or sending it to support.

Hi Charles,

There is a feature that might explain what you see:

  • Search is case-insensitive IF all your letter are lowercase. Eg. “total” finds “total”, “Total” and “TOTAL”.
  • Search becomes case-SENSITIVE IF you use ONE OR MORE UPPERCASE letters. E.g. “Total” matches “Total”, but not “total” or “TOTAL”.

Maybe this explains what your are seeing?

Hi Gilbert.

It is probably what I have been seeing. Very unhelpful that it is not documented and that the user is not given a choice.

I often have to search for product codes, which are usually uppercase, but are inherently case insensitive and often copy pasted from emails where they have been typed in mixed case. This “feature” is infuriating for this reason alone. I am not sure how it will work for other searches when I will at least have some partial control.

Please also can the ability to select recent searches which was in Quantrix 3 be restored.

with best regards

Charles

Agreed, documenting this very helpful features would be great. And good to hear that it can solve your problem – simply type to code lowercase (even if it normally would be uppercase).
In case you are looking for a little script to clean your fields – this is rather easy to correct all your data into the right formatting. Do not hesitate to contact me if you want me to get you started with this. Gilbert – solutions@brainwork.consulting

Hi Charles,

Go to Advanced find, on the top-right corner you will see icon of setting (the gear), click it and uncheck Case Sensitive. It is likely enabled in your model, and once you turn it off, your searches will no longer be case‑sensitive.

I have tried that, but it doesn’t work. The search is still case sensitive, but it is a bit random and sometimes is not case sensitive.

Hi Charles – can you provide additional details about the search you are using? For example, is this part of the “Find” feature, the Model Browser search or something different? And is this on Modeler or Qloud? Thanks!
