Creating Multiple Links in Category
Ok, say I have a category called ‘state1’, which is linked to another category ‘state2’ in another matrix. Now say I have separate ‘state3’ category in a 3rd matrix, which has the same data and format as the first ‘state1’ category.
How do I keep the link between ‘state1’ and ‘state2’, while creating another link to ‘state3’ by right clicking on the category.
Thanks!
We do have a logged issue where formulas are not getting updated with the new category names after linking existing categories. We hope to have this fixed in our next software release, due out in a few weeks. For now, you can change the formulas manually or use Edit > Find/Replace from the menu to change the formulas.
I will keep you posted on new developments.
Pete,
Thanks for your input. One thing is that I need to keep the ‘state’ category linked, and simply create another link to the ‘state’ category in matrix1. This is so that the formulas will work correctly. Maybe I am just confusing the issues here. Is there a way for me to be more clear in my post? Thanks.
If I understand you correctly, you can first “unlink” the category in Matrix3 which will create a state dimension identical to the one with which it is linked. Then you can “link” that new category to the one in Matrix2.
Does that do the trick for you?
It is possible that Quantrix could provide a feature that would allow “relinking” a category that is already linked – which would save a step in this scenario.
Cheers,
pete
Mike, I think I was not clear in my last post.
In your model, the state category from matrix 1 and matrix 2 are linked. And it is possible to link the state category in matrix 3 to the state category in matrix 2.
However, what if ‘state’ in matrix 3 is *already* linked to another category? Let’s say matrix 4 also has a ‘state’ category, which is linked to matrix 3. Due to this, if I right click on ‘state’ in matrix 3, I only the the option to unlink the category, not link it to yet another matrix.
Is this possible? Thanks!
