I have a simple question for you but not for me.
I want to import and excel file to Quantrix. When I select the default options to set it up and when I import I get an error message that says there is a conflict with the row.row category and cannot import type of message.
What I want to do is import an excel version of an income statement from Simply Accounting so that the first column is used for the row description but what I get is the column of the matrix that would be the row description says Row1, Row2 etc. and the income statement descriptions are in the first column of the matrix. Can anyone tell me what I have to do to import the csv file so that the text descriptions are where they should be as the category names in the matrix?
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.
Mike thanks for this. I cannot post the file as it contains confidential client information.
What I did do is a search of the spreadsheet for the word "row" and what came up was one hit with the word "row" in it. However it was part of the name "Brown" in a line item description. That was the only instance of "row" in the file. Does this mean that any time a word contains the word "row" like this example there will be a conflict with importing the data of the entire csv sheet? Also are there any other words to be aware of like "category" that could also cause this problem? And finally, what other problems with words could there be? I was importing to a new blank matrix with only one cell in it at the time – the top left corner cell. Thanks very much.
I attached a small example .csv file and .model file that demonstrates a DataLink of which I think you are trying to do.
If you download both to your desktop, open the model file then while focused on the ‘Data Matrix’ choose Data > DataLink > Edit DataLink you can walk through the wizard screens to see how it is set up.
[attachment=0:2627mums]Budget 2016 Import.csv[/attachment:2627mums]Hello Support,
I am getting an error message when trying to import a csv excel file. It is a 12 month budget file and the error message is saying I am exceeding the maximum number of cells or data that can be imported to a matrix.
I see that in the previous replies to this post above that the sample excel file (accounts.csv) is ordered differently than my excel file. The account.csv file has 3 columns – Account, Month, Value – and repeats the line items for each month – see file above.
My excel file is a traditional income statement format with the account descriptions down column A with the 12 months from columns C to N.
My question is do I have to reformat my excel file to be setup like the sample file above in account.csv to import it and why am I getting an error message that I am exceeding the maximum limit of data to be imported?
I have attached my excel file.
Would appreciate please any help possible on this. Thanks very much.
I reformatted my excel file to the format in the previous example under account.csv attached. I am hoping there is an easier way to do this because as you can see from the reformatted file this would not be a practical approach. I stopped after three income statement line items as you will be able to see what I mean. Thanks very much.
I was able to import the first file that you provided effortlessly using data link–>Create DataLink–>Delimted Text File–>C:UsersmyusernameDownloadsBudget 2016 Import.csv–>Multi-dimensional OLAP Analysis. I have included the file.
As a side note your question is timely. I have two Quantrix Authority videos coming out today and tomorrow that should give you some insight into how to accomplish what you are trying to do in both of your posts (Episode 144 & 145 on Quantrix Authority on YouTube)
Best of Luck
