linking across matrices

How do you link a line on one matrix to the workings on another when the workings has 2 working tablets, i.e. total, then 2 lines and a sub total in the next field, when I make one equal the total, it only brings up the top line in the next field, not the subtotal at the bottom. Is there a skip style mechanism?

First thing that comes to mind is do you need to link a category between the two matrices? Category linking does that rendezvous of like items that you may be needing in your model.

If that does not help feel free to post a sample model of what you are trying to do and I am sure someone in the forum community can help.

Total First year
Sub total

These are the 2 category tiles, and I need a row in another matrix to equal the subtotal amount, which is the sum of several above rows above.

I created a dummy example of what I think (but I may be wrong) you are looking for.

Matrix1 is the input matrix inlcuding the categories Total First Year Trail and Positions.

Matrix2 is the first solution where all categories are linked. Then you see all the details including each position. You can collapse the positions or hide them.

Matrix3 is another solution where only the first two categories are linked. You can see here that the formula to get the sub totals is slightly more complex.

All the best,

Cheers mon amigo, all sorted.
