Excel 2007 as a Data Source

I witnessed a Quantrix demo last Friday and downloaded the trial version on Saturday. I’ve compiled some data in Excel to use for my trial purposes. I am attempting to link to that Excel file through the DataLink wizard, but cannot establish the connection. I am obviously very new to Quantrix and have worked very little with ODBC data sources. I aplogize in advance if my quesiton is more related to ODBC vs. Quantrix.

I watched the “Data Modeling with Quantrix” webinar and have followed those instructions. But when I attempt to “Test Connection”, I receive a Connection Error dialog box saying “Error connecting to…{my excel file}; Data source name not found and no default driver specified”.

I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I am running Excel 2007 on a Windows 7, 64-bit platfrom. Thanks

Thanks, Mike. I believe I’m using 32-bit Office. I remember downloading the 64-bit of Quantrix to match my Windows 7 version. I will get them matched up and retry.

hi – thanks for the post:

Do you know what bit version of Microsoft Office you are using? If you are using the 32 bit version of Office, you will need to use the 32bit version of Quantrix. Likewise, a 64 bit office will require a 64bit Quantrix version. The ODBC connector requires both applications be on the same bit version.

If you follow the free trial link from the Quantrix.com home page, On the license agreement page there is an opportunity to download both the 32bit and 64bit Quantrix editions.

Hope this helps!
