Chart Label Formatting Suggestion – Q4

Here’s a suggestion to improve readability on chart labels. When both Name and Value are selected they appear on the chart as: Name:value E.g. Q2:4

I’m using this on a Bar (2D) chart. On the chart view itself it might be easily readable. But, when the chart is placed on a presentation canvas with other items and resized to be smaller the labels are less readable. The “:” character become quite faint.

It would be more readable if it were formatted as Name: Value or Name : Value.

As a work-around, you can use an expression to get the spacing you want.

Assuming that the category is named A, you can write an expression as follows (in the chart labels section of the format toolbox).

@A&” : “&A
